SeaWorld : Get Up Close and Personal with the Whales

November 18th, 2006

You may remember Raffi’s children’s song about the beluga whale – it’s been a staple in my house for two generations now – Baby Beluga in the deep blue sea/You swim so wild and you swim so free/Heaven above and the sea below/And a little white whale on the go.

How would you like the opportunity to hang out with the “little white whale?” At SeaWorld San Diego, now you can!

SeaWorld announced its newest animal interaction experience this week – Wild Arctic Interaction. The Wild Arctic Interaction offers visitors exclusive, behind-the-scenes encounters with polar bears, walruses and seals. Guests then suit up in wetsuits (provided by SeaWorld) and enter the 55-degree water (brrr!) for a chance to touch, feel and interact with the beluga whales. Don’t be fooled by their size (belugas can weigh up to 2,500 pounds) – these whales are friendly and love to play!

The Wild Arctic Interaction experience costs $160.00 per person, plus Park admission (Platinum, Gold and Silver Passport Member rate is $130.00 per person). Participants must be at least 13 years of age. Lockers and showers are available for use. Spaces are limited and reservations are highly recommended. You may check availability and book your spot online at the SeaWorld website or by calling the Park directly.

It’s a chance of a lifetime – and some of us have been imagining it since we were in kindergarten!
