Del Mar : Del Mar Races 2007

July 17th, 2007

The Del Mar Fair has come and gone, but not to fret: the 2007 Del Mar Thoroughbred Horse Racing season is just around the corner!

For horse racing aficionados, the Del Mar Races never disappoint. Fans can mingle and meet world renowned horses, trainers, jockeys and owners in a premier setting only a few furlongs away from the Pacific Ocean. For music lovers, the Summer Concert Series rocks the racetrack with music and entertainment from top bands, and for families, the Family Fun Day events are a perennial crowd pleaser.

Making its debut at the Del Mar Racetrack this season is the Polytrack racing surface, which was installed earlier this year at a cost of $9 million. Consisting of a mixture of silicon sand, fibers, rubber and wax, Polytrack is reputed to be more consistent and safe, and has reduced instances of fatal injuries compared to the traditional dirt surfaces on North American race tracks.

The Del Mar Races 2007 Season runs from Wednesday, July 18 to Wednesday, September 5, 2007. There are no races on Tuesdays. All races take place at the Del Mar Racetrack located at 2260 Jimmy Durante Boulevard, Del Mar, CA, 92014. The first post is at 2:00 pm daily, with the exception of “Four O’Clock Fridays” (July 20 & 27, August 3 & 10 4:00 pm post; August 17, 24 & 31 – 3:30 pm post) and “Pacific Classic Day” (Sunday, August 19 – 1:00 pm post).

General admission to the Races is $6.00 per adult. Children 17 years of age and younger are admitted free and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. Advance tickets, reserved seating, restaurant seating and other packages are also available.

See you at the Races!
