The Flower Fields in Carlsbad
February 15th, 2008
There’s nothing quite like a stroll through the Flower Fields in Carlsbad to announce that Spring has arrived! And it’s almost that time of the year again, folks – the Carlsbad Flower Fields will be open to the public next month!
The main attraction at the Flower Fields is the seemingly endless rows of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus, a type of multi-petaled rose which is also known as a Persian Buttercup. The Flower Fields is the only working ranunculus field in the world that is open to the public and almost every inch of the 50-plus acres has been dedicated to the renowned rose.
In addition to the awe-inspiring ranunculus displays, visitors will be able to explore other perennials and annuals, including the American Rose Society’s rose garden featuring more than 170 All-American Rose Selection Award of Excellence winners, a Sweet Pea Maze, an American Flag of Flowers (planted on a 300 x 170 foot space) and a historic poinsettia display.
Take a leisurely stroll or a wagon ride through the Flower Fields and enjoy the panoramic ocean views, the sweet scent of flowers in the air and the vibrant blooms at your feet. It is a delight for all of your senses!
