Free Family Art Activities and Events at the Oceanside Museum of Art

The Oceanside Museum of Art continues to host a series of Free Family Art Days, a program designed to provide the community with educational art experiences. Bring the whole family to this fun-filled free event where children are encouraged to view the artwork featured in the Museum’s Exhibitions (with special kid-friendly docent guided tours) and participate in hands-on art activities that reflect concepts and themes from the Exhibits. Every Free Family Art Day includes all the necessary materials and is open to the public.

There are several Free Family Art Days scheduled for 2010, each one paired with art projects that reflect the themes and concepts of the Exhibits. Here’s a list of the upcoming Free Family Art Day events at the Oceanside Museum of Art:

Sunday, February 7, 2010 – 1:00 – 4:00 pm

  • Chinese Paper Lantern Project – Celebrate Chinese New Year by creating a Chinese paper lantern. Guests can also learn how to paint Chinese characters at the Calligraphy Workshop.

Sunday, May 2, 2010 – 1:00 – 4:00 pm

  • Painting Workshop

Sunday, August 1, 2010 – 1:00 – 4:00 pm

  • Craft to be announced

Sunday, October 3, 2010 – 1:00 – 4:00 pm

  • Craft to be announced

Sunday, December 5, 2010 – 1:00 – 4:00 pm

  • Craft to be announced
