Free, Family Friendly Street Fair in OB
This Street Fair offers a spicy twist – it’s the 33rd Annual Ocean Beach Street Fair and Chili Cook Off Festival and Ocean Beach’s 125th Anniversary!
On Saturday, June 23, 2012, Newport Avenue in Ocean Beach hosts a celebrated and eagerly anticipated yearly community tradition. This free, family friendly festival will entertain more than 70,000 visitors throughout the day!
Highlights of the OB Street Fair include:
Chili Cook-Off – Amateur cooks with original recipes compete for prizes.
Live Music – Six stages of continuous music by local OB musicians provide a tune for every ear.
Food Vendors – Hungry? A tantalizing array of terrific food vendors await to please any appetite.
Beachside Beer Garden & Liquorland – a Beachside Beer Garden & Liquorland located next to the Main Stage – a great pit stop for all those thirsty adults! New this year is the Bloody Mary Competition featuring a blind tasting of signature recipes from several local bars and restaurants.
Vendor Booths – Colorful merchandise will line all three blocks of the OB Fair, as well as the side streets! With many great new vendors this year, there is always something new and interesting to discover.
3D Street Painting – Using paints, creativity, and a clever concept of angles, the Coors Light Silver Bullet Aluminum Pint is “splashing down” at the OB Street Festival. When captured on camera the artwork literally pops up from the ground creating a 3-D optical illusion. Be sure to take your photo with the larger-than-life masterpiece.
Artists’ Alley – Stroll through an entire area dedicated to talented artists selling unique handmade creations.
Community Mural Project – Join in the fun and paint a square of this mural. Children and adults of all ages are welcome in creating this masterpiece. New: second mural added to celebrate OB’s 125th Anniversary.
Wonderland Children’s Area – Named after the first amusement park in Ocean Beach, this special area promises a ton of fun for the little ones.
Laser Tag & Water Slide – New fun activities for the whole family at Saratoga Park.

Parking and Free Shuttle for the OB Street Fair:
Free trolleys will be running from 9:30 am to 9:00 pm on the day of the Street Fair. Trolleys will run continuously every half hour. The free trolley service will run between the Sunrunner Parking Lot (corner of Pacific Highway and Sea World Drive), the Robb Field Entrance (at the north end of Ocean Beach, on the corner of West Point Loma Boulevard and Bacon Street) and the Street Fair’s Artists’ Alley (at the corner of Santa Monica Avenue and Cable Street).
You can also park your bike at the new bike valet.
The Ocean Beach Street Fair and Chili Cook Off Festival 2012 takes place along Newport Avenue in San Diego`s Ocean Beach area on Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. This is a free, family friendly event.
